This story reminds me of the move "Barbershop" but in a Caucasian women setting. The women talk horribly about everyone in the town and even refer to their own husbands as if they were bums. The trip to the freak show only proves to the reader that the themselves are the "freaks" and everything that they really see are not what they seem. The little boy seems to be the only normal person in the story because he has not been brainwashed or become a member of this society.
