Hopkins, Pauline. "Talma Gordon."

  1. Talma Gordon is a very interesting story. I was excited when I started reading and found that it was a mystery, but it was not the mystery I expected. It seemed to move very quickly which is what is different from the mystery stories that I like reading today, but I suppose that much of that should be credited to the fact that it is a short story.

I was interested in the story the whole way through. It moved swiftly and held my interest more than anything we have read so far. Overall it was a really great story.

I found the plot very interesting and was shocked to find out that Edward did not want to marry Talma because of her "negro" blood. The language that the author uses at the beginning almost makes her seem to harbor some racial dislike, but I think the tone changes throughout the story. Overall I really enjoyed it.
